I didn’t have time to make a gingerbread house this year, but last winter, I assembled this one. My mom has these little delft houses filled with gin that are given out to first and business class passengers on KLM. I was looking at them one day and realized they would make really cute gingerbread houses.

I measured one of the little houses and created a scaled-up drawing of its components on cardstock. I cut those pieces out and used them as templates to cut the dough. To assemble the house I used a caramel glue made from boiling sugar and water. The last step was decorating it with royal icing.

It would be fun to do a tutorial…so maybe next year?
